The Gruffalo: A clever mouse takes on the great forest
At the marotte Theater Karlsruhe, an adventurous stage experience begins for children aged four and up: The little mouse ventures into a dangerous forest and encounters hungry animals there. With imagination, courage, and a clever story, she creates a fearsome protector – the Gruffalo.
A picture book world comes alive
The production is based on the popular picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. From a seemingly defenseless mouse, a witty heroine emerges, outsmarting her opponents with clever dramaturgy and keen observation. When the invented Gruffalo suddenly appears for real, the game of fantasy flips into a surprising encounter.
Puppet theater with wit and suspense
Roberta Ascani guides the audience through a focused 45-minute performance. The direction by Eva Kaufmann combines acting, puppet theater, and child-friendly humor into a clear stage narrative. The set design by Vera Kniss creates an atmospheric forest world where every encounter generates new suspense.
Courage, imagination, and the power of clever ideas
The Gruffalo tells a light-hearted story about fear, self-confidence, and the ability to stand up against seemingly overwhelming opponents. The theater atmosphere is aimed at young spectators but also allows adults to partake in the precise comedy and imaginative performance. At the center is a little heroine whose strength arises not from size but from ingenuity.
A compact stage experience for the whole family
The performance lasts 45 minutes and is suitable for children from four years old. The morning at marotte Theater promises an immediate encounter with characters, stories, and lively puppet play – close to the young audiences and full of surprising forest adventures.
Conclusion: The Gruffalo combines clever storytelling, humorous puppet theater, and an encouraging story. Those who want to witness how a small mouse becomes a great stage heroine should discover this imaginative children's play live at marotte Theater.
