Disco Queen: A Dazzling Journey Through Time with Live Band
When the first beats sound in the Copacabana Disco, a musical journey to the year 1978 begins in the Sandkorn Theater. Disco Queen – In the Fever of the 70s combines comedy, contemporary history, and great hits across Schlager, Pop, Glam Rock, and Disco sound for an energetic musical evening.
A Wedding, a Competition, and Lots of Heart Palpitations
Alicia celebrates her bachelorette party together with her best friend Bettina. Before the wedding with Tom, she wants to celebrate wildly one last time in the club and compete for the title of Disco Queen. But then she meets the flamboyant Kim. A flirt shakes up her seemingly secure future, while Bettina increasingly sounds the alarm.
Comedy Meets Contemporary History
The production by Erik Rastetter anchors the private stories of its characters in a decade full of societal upheavals. Bell-bottoms, platform shoes, and flashy color patterns collide with feminism, the oil crisis, growing environmental protection, and political tensions. Thus, a stage setting of the 70s emerges, where personal decisions and contemporary history intertwine directly.
The Sound of an Unforgettable Decade
The actual stage experience is provided by a live band, which brings the unmistakable sound of the 70s directly into the theater. Keyboard, saxophone, guitar, bass, and drums give the production its pulsating rhythm. The musical direction is taken by Leander Mangelsdorf, and the choreography is by Laura Albrecht. Acting, singing, and choreographed movement blend into an energy-filled music theater evening.
An Ensemble with Joy and Tempo
Oliver Fobe, Bagdasar Khachikyan, Michael Postweiler, Julia Schobesberger, and Lisandra Bardél portray characters caught between exuberant celebration, romantic confusion, and comedic tension. Michael Postweiler is also on stage as bartender Fred, contributes to the live music, and developed the piece together with Erik Rastetter. The performance lasts approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes including a break.
Conclusion: Theater Atmosphere with Disco Fever
This musical invites you to not only observe the 70s but to experience it with all your senses: with bright costumes, driving acoustics, pointed dialogues, and the immediate pull of a live band. Those who want to combine comedy, music theater, and nostalgic disco feeling will experience a colorful stage experience with a lot of heart, tempo, and a love for dance at Sandkorn.
