Fast city run through Durlach's historic old town
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, Durlach transforms into a sporting stage: At the 32nd Durlach Turmberglauf, running sports, stadium atmosphere, and historical backdrop come together. The flat 10-kilometer popular run leads through the Durlach old town, along the Pfinz and back into the center. The starting shot is fired at 4 PM in the marketplace.
10 kilometers between old town and Pfinz
The name sounds like a mountain run, but the route presents itself as flat and fast. From the marketplace, the course leads over Pfinztalstraße and the old town ring, further along the Pfinz and through the green surroundings towards Grötzingen. On the way back, the finish line awaits in Durlach city at Saumarkt.
The varied course combines speed with a special ambiance. Narrow alleys, historic facades, crowd noise, and fan chants accompany the participants. For ambitious runners, the fast course offers the perfect stage for a tactically smart race with a steady pace, clean formation, and an intense final sprint.
Children's races kick off the running day
Starting from 1 PM, the Durlach Castle Garden belongs to the youngest athletes. The children’s races cover an 800-meter route through the park. Children born between 2015 and 2018 can look forward to their own competition. Every child receives a participation medal at the finish; the top three places are honored immediately after each race.
Competition with tradition and sporting ambition
The Turnerschaft Durlach 1846 e.V. organizes the popular popular run for the 32nd time. About 400 runners are expected for the main race. Classifications are held for youth classes U16, U18, and U20 as well as numerous age classes up to 70 years and older. Additionally, the overall winners, age class winners, and the team with the most participants will be awarded.
Particular excitement is promised by the course records. For new best times, a prize of 100 euros is offered. All participants also receive a glass with the Turmberglauf motif.
Distribution of start numbers, food, and award ceremony
The organizational point of contact is located in the Weiherhofhalle Durlach. There, start numbers are distributed, late registrations are accepted, and changing rooms, food, and other services are provided. Late registration for the main run is possible until 3:30 PM. The final award ceremony starts at 5:30 PM in the Weiherhofhalle and will be musically accompanied by the inclusive band Dickes Blech.
Traffic advice for spectators and participants
From around 3:50 PM onwards, there may be temporary road closures and changes in public transport in the Durlach old town. Visitors are therefore best to arrive early. Stops such as Durlach Friedrichschule and Durlach Schlossplatz are located near the marketplace. Parking options are available, among others, at the Scheck-In-Center garage and the Amalienbadgarage.
