Sharing experiences, shaping the future: An evening for older people in Karlsruhe
Looking back together, listening, and gaining new confidence: On November 4, 2026, the Learning Workshop of the Badische Landesbibliothek invites you to a special storytelling space. The focus will be on the life stories of older people and the question of what past upheavals can teach us about our actions in the future.
Life story as a valuable treasure of experience
Whether it’s political change, the post-war period, arriving in a new country, or personal transformations: the experiences of the attendees form the core of this community experience. In a relaxed atmosphere, space is created for social participation, personal memories, and exchange between people with different life paths.
Impulse from future research and education
After a brief impulse from Laura Eigbrecht from the NextEducation working group at DHBW Karlsruhe and Ioannis Theocharis from Karlshochschule, the evening will focus entirely on group conversation. The event connects literature, memory culture, and future research with an age-appropriate interaction at eye level.
Senior-friendly event location
The storytelling space will take place in the seminar room of the Learning Workshop at the Badische Landesbibliothek. The library is accessible without stairs via Erbprinzenstraße and Blumenstraße. An elevator, barrier-free entrances, and a nearby parking garage with an elevator support as comfortable participation as possible. For individual questions regarding accessibility, the library's service center is available.
Registration and communal exchange
Registration is required by November 2, 2026. The evening offers older people the opportunity to share their own experiences, make new contacts, and reflect together on crises, change, and the future. Family members and interested companions will find a valuable occasion for intergenerational conversations here.
Conclusion: Memories give courage for tomorrow
Yesterday, today, tomorrow connects personal life stories with a future perspective. Attendees can expect a dignified, stimulating evening with space for meeting, listening, and thoughtful reflection. Those who understand their own experience as a contribution to the community will experience this storytelling space as an empowering impulse for greater well-being and confidence.
