About three-quarters of our drinking water in Germany comes from groundwater. However, in many places, this is contaminated with high nitrate levels. Streams, rivers, lakes, and ditches are also affected. One of the main causes: Over-fertilization due to intensive agriculture and livestock farming. With our nitrate map, we make the invisible contamination visible. It connects official measurement data with current water tests from Greenpeace volunteers and engaged citizens and shows the nitrate pollution of local waters. 🔎 Become a water guardian in your neighborhood! Test the water in your area and help make the nitrate contamination visible. 🌱 Greenpeace Karlsruhe supports you in this! Do you have questions or want to learn more about the crowd research? 📍 Come to our information booth at Friedrichsplatz in Karlsruhe (corner of Ritter-/Erprinzenstrasse) on 19.09.2026 from 11 AM to 3 PM 👉 Find out on our homepage how you can support Greenpeace's nationwide nitrate research (https://greenwire.greenpeace.de/greenpeace-karlsruhe/veranstaltung/gemeinsam-unser-wasser-schuetzen-macht-mit-bei-der-nitrat) 📧 Or write to us: info@karlsruhe.greenpeace.de Together, we make visible what remains invisible. 💧🌱
