Together for More Awareness in the Swimming Pool
How are safe, respectful, and discrimination-sensitive spaces created in public swimming pools? At the Community Workshop on October 27, 2026, Initiative Awareness e.V. invites the LGBTIQA* community in Karlsruhe to an open exchange. The focus is on gender and sexual diversity as well as the specific needs of queer people in the swimming pool.
Dialogue Instead of Theory: Experiences from the Community
From 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the question will be how awareness work in the swimming pool can look like. Participants will contribute perspectives, experiences, and wishes and collaboratively develop key points for a practice-oriented event and awareness planning.
Safe Spaces in the Public Swimming Pool
Swimming pools are places of encounter, movement, and relaxation. At the same time, special situations arise there related to bodies, changing rooms, visibility, and social interaction. The workshop takes these topics seriously and creates space for a constructive exchange on protection, respect, and participation.
As Part of the Project Awareness in the Swimming Pool
The event is part of the project Awareness in the Swimming Pool of the Equal Opportunities Officer of the City of Karlsruhe in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Pools. The project is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labor, and Health from state funds approved by the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg. Thus, the workshop connects civic engagement, municipal equal opportunities work, and specific target group outreach.
Join Online via Zoom
The Community Workshop will be held online via Zoom. Access is provided directly through the event link. The access code is 628539. The digital organization enables uncomplicated participation regardless of one's location and supports a low-threshold exchange.
Conclusion
The workshop offers queer people in Karlsruhe the opportunity to share their experiences and co-create future awareness work in public swimming pools. Those who are engaged in gender and sexual diversity, safe event spaces, and solidarity community work will experience a focused exchange with practical relevance.
