The Wolf Returns: Knowledge, Research, and Dialogue at the Forest Center Karlsruhe
The wolf has returned to Baden-Württemberg – and with it come questions, discussions, and different perspectives. On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the Forest Center Karlsruhe invites you to a fact-based lecture with Dr. Micha Herdtfelder. The specialist in predator management from the Forest Research Institute of Baden-Württemberg contextualizes the current situation and connects scientific insights with practical questions about the coexistence of humans, wildlife, and livestock.
Focus on the Biology and Lifestyle of the Wolf
How does a wolf live, how does it expand, and what behavior do the animals exhibit in our cultural landscape? The lecture sheds light on the biological foundations as well as the current developments in Baden-Württemberg. Nature lovers, hunters, farmers, and interested citizens will gain an understandable insight into research, monitoring, and wolf management.
Between Wildlife, Livestock, and Societal Debate
The return of the wolf touches on nature conservation, agriculture, hunting, and the daily lives of many people. Dr. Micha Herdtfelder focuses on the different perspectives and creates space for a fact-based contextualization. His many years of work in large predator management, his research on lynx and wolf, and his experience in communication between the involved groups form the basis for a well-founded event evening.
Scientific Exchange with Room for Questions
After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and engage in conversation with the speaker. This creates an event experience that does not end with the transfer of knowledge but promotes direct dialogue. The atmosphere in the auditorium may be as open as it is controversial – what remains crucial is the respectful exchange based on scientific foundations.
Conclusion: Better Understanding a Complex Conflict
Visitors can expect an informative evening about wolf biology, expansion, behavior, and management of the predator in Baden-Württemberg. Those who wish to engage with one of the most discussed wildlife species of our time in a factual, comprehensive, and first-hand manner will find an important date for nature, society, and regional wildlife management at the Forest Center Karlsruhe.
