Discovering Art Together: A Museum Afternoon for Curious Families
When children's eyes shine and adults are amazed again, the museum visit becomes a special family experience. At the intercultural museum afternoon "Viewing with Children", parents and children aged 3 to 12 years meet at the Karlsruhe Art Museum to look at art together, discuss it, and creatively implement their own ideas.
Look, Speak, and Be Creative
The focus is on the shared encounter with art. Families discover selected works, exchange thoughts, and experience how differently images can be perceived. The child-friendly format combines concentrated observation with open exchange and creative impulses.
This creates an age-appropriate learning experience that strengthens curiosity, language development, and expressive abilities. Children are allowed to ask questions, share their own observations, and bring in their imagination. Adults accompany this process and experience art from a new, often surprising perspective.
Intercultural Encounters with Learning Fun
The family offer is aimed at people with different cultural backgrounds. Families meet in the museum, learn from each other, and create shared time in an open atmosphere. For non-native speakers, German language skills at level B1 are recommended.
The workshop promotes social development, linguistic security, and cultural exchange. Children learn that different perspectives can coexist. This communal learning makes the museum visit vibrant and conveys art holistically, child-friendly, and with plenty of room for their own discoveries.
With Eva Wittig at the Karlsruhe Art Museum
Eva Wittig accompanies the intercultural parent-child workshop. The regular format takes place once or twice a month, except in August, and is organized in cooperation with the adult education center in Karlsruhe. The event is designed for families with children aged 3 to 12 years.
The museum afternoon takes place on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Registration at vermittlung.kunstmuseum@kultur.karlsruhe.de is recommended. Participation and museum entry are free; this offer is made possible by funding from LBBW.
A Safe and Valuable Family Outing
The art museum offers a protected indoor space for shared discovery, discussions, and creative activities. Parents stay with their children during the offer and support them according to their age and needs. Comfortable clothing and enough time for curious observation promote a relaxed family experience.
Conclusion: Art, Children's Laughter, and Shared Time
"Viewing with Children" connects cultural education, intercultural encounters, and creative learning experiences into a special afternoon for the whole family. Children discover art with all their senses, parents experience new conversation starters, and everyone takes inspiring impressions home. Register now and experience a free museum afternoon full of wonder, learning fun, and children's laughter together.
