Discovering Art in Karlsruhe Anew: Scene Change 4 at the Art Museum

On November 1, 2026, the Art Museum Karlsruhe invites you to a special tour through "Update! Reexamining the Collection – Scene Change 4". A vibrant journey through approximately 200 works by 70 artists unfolds between painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and contemporary art.

A Collection in Dialogue

On about 1,500 square meters, historical positions and contemporary art encounter each other in constellations that cross media and epochs. The tour makes visible how new neighbors between the works emerge and how familiar collection holdings can be read from an unusual perspective.

Themes that Touch the Present

Identity, rituals, nature, gender equality, home, and the experience of foreignness form central thematic areas of the presentation. The city tour through the cultural heritage of Karlsruhe does not navigate through streets but through spaces of thought and imagery, where societal questions are directly connected to artistic expressions.

Art History to Discover

The fourth scene change understands the collection as an open field of knowledge. Layout changes, varying presentations of delicate paper works, a display depot, and a research archive expand the view on the development of the holdings. Thus, a museum visit becomes a concentrated experience of discovery with historical contexts and new perspectives.

Conclusion: An Hour Full of New Perspectives

The tour offers art enthusiasts, cultural travelers, and curious visitors to Karlsruhe a compact cultural enrichment at the Art Museum. Those wanting to connect the local art history of the city with contemporary art and explore a diverse collection professionally will find an inspiring approach in this tour.
