Stars of Classic: Classical Music Under the Starry Sky

On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the PLANET KA Planetarium Karlsruhe will transform into a cosmic concert stage. At Music & Cosmos: Stars of Classic, classical music meets an immersive journey through space and time – from the Big Bang to the formation of galaxies to the future visions of the universe.

When the Starry Sky Accompanies the First Note

At the beginning, PLANET KA will present the current starry sky over Karlsruhe live. Following that, the 360° star dome will open for an audiovisual time travel, where music, projection, and astronomical knowledge merge into an intense concert experience. The unique live atmosphere of the planetarium makes cosmic dimensions immediately tangible.

Beethoven, Strauss, and Vivaldi Among Galaxies

The musical dramaturgy leads through masterpieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss, Modest Mussorgsky, Peter Tchaikovsky, Bedřich Smetana, Antonio Vivaldi, Edvard Grieg, and other composers. The playlist includes, among others, Also sprach Zarathustra, The Moldau, Morning Mood, Swan Lake, Moonlight Sonata, and Mars, the Bringer of War.

The orchestration of the works gains a new dimension through the cosmic imagery: sound, light, and projection intertwine and create an impressive synchronization between musical tension and astronomical events.

From the Big Bang to New Adventures

The program takes the audience through the birth and demise of stars, supernovae, black holes, and colliding galaxies. The search for life on distant planets, the formation of the Earth, as well as cosmic dangers like asteroid impacts and comets are also part of the journey. Despite all the dramatic episodes, the evening ends hopefully with a view toward new discoveries and adventures in the infinite universe.

Music Show and Educational Program for Curious Explorers

Stars of Classic combines a musical atmosphere with understandable astronomy. The approximately 60-minute program is aimed at visitors aged 10 and up and is suitable for classical music fans, families, and anyone who wants to experience music in an extraordinary stage performance.

Important Notes for the Concert Evening

Doors open about 30 minutes before the start of the event. Since no late entry is possible during the planetarium presentation, timely arrival is recommended. Unused tickets expire without compensation. Due to limited seating, online booking is recommended.
