Stars of Classic: Classical Music Under the Starry Sky
On October 30, 2026, the PLANET KA Planetarium Karlsruhe connects great works of classical music with an immersive journey through space and time. At Music & Cosmos: Stars of Classic, the audience aged 10 and up will experience a musical time travel from the Big Bang to the future – under the 360° star dome and with the current night sky over Karlsruhe as a kickoff.
When the First Note Opens the Cosmos
At the beginning, the live starry sky above Karlsruhe is revealed. Then, an audiovisual journey unfolds through the formation of galaxies and stars, cosmic upheavals, and the great questions about life in the universe. The unique atmosphere of the planetarium combines projection, spatial effects, and classical music into a concert experience for the eyes, ears, and imagination.
Beethoven, Strauss, and Vivaldi Among Galaxies
The musical dramaturgy features works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Richard Strauss, Modest Mussorgsky, Peter Tchaikovsky, Bedřich Smetana, Antonio Vivaldi, Edvard Grieg, and other composers. The program includes, among others, Also sprach Zarathustra, The Moldau, Morning Mood, Swan Lake, the Moonlight Sonata, and Mars, the Bringer of War. Classical orchestration and cosmic imagery will be synchronized into a stage performance.
From the Big Bang to New Adventures
Galaxies form, stars perish, and supernovae mark the dramatic turning points of this musical journey. Black holes, comets, asteroid impacts, and colliding galaxies appear as impressive stations, while the gaze repeatedly returns to Earth and the search for life in the solar system. The educational program imparts astronomical contexts while preserving the emotional power of the music.
Important Notes for the Concert Evening
The event lasts about 60 minutes. Admission starts approximately 30 minutes before the show begins. As no late admission is allowed during the planetarium presentation, timely arrival is recommended. Unused tickets expire without replacement. Due to limited seating, online booking is recommended.
Conclusion: An Evening of Concert Between Sound and Infinity
Stars of Classic makes classical music physically tangible in the planetarium: The dome opens the view, the music carries through cosmic expanses, and the projections give known masterpieces a new dimension. Those who want to experience classical music, astronomy, and immersive live atmosphere will discover an extraordinary evening between knowledge, sound, and starlight at PLANET KA Karlsruhe.
