A Musical Cosmos Between Brilliance and Intimacy
Bach's Mass in B Minor is one of the most significant works in music history. Festive choral movements, contrasting orchestration, and expressive solo parts culminate in a work of great spiritual and musical intensity. In the acoustics of the City Church, Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei unfold a compelling effect.
High-Caliber Soloist Ensemble and Historical Sound
Carmen Buchert takes the soprano role, Matthias Lucht sings the alto part, Shichao Cheng can be experienced as tenor, and Armin Kolarczyk takes on the bass. Together with CoroPiccolo Karlsruhe and the Karlsruhe Baroque Orchestra, a multifaceted Bach sound emerges that balances precise synchronization, transparent orchestral sound, and powerful stage performance.
30 Years of CoroPiccolo Karlsruhe
The vocal ensemble founded in 1996 by Christian-Markus Raiser stands for demanding choral music from early music to contemporary works. Concert tours, radio and CD recordings, as well as performances of major oratorios are part of the ensemble's artistic work. For the anniversary concert, church music director Christian-Markus Raiser will conduct.
Live Atmosphere in the Protestant City Church
The spacious church area at the Karlsruhe market square creates ideal conditions for Bach's monumental sound architecture. Powerful choral entries meet intimate solo moments, while the Karlsruhe Baroque Orchestra emphasizes the historical character of the composition with nuanced articulation and colorful instrumentation.
