Aurel Mertz live in Karlsruhe: When political punchlines awaken the cat lover

On November 6, 2026, Aurel Mertz brings his stand-up comedy to the stage of the State University of Design Karlsruhe. At the ARD Hörspieltage, sharp societal observation meets satirical winks – and the audience supposedly receives the mental tools to gracefully give up in the political chaos.

Stand-up with attitude and sharp timing

Aurel Mertz combines political comedy, social-critical observation, and personal punchlines into a distinctive humor style. His performances thrive on precise timing, clear language, and a stage presence that does not merely soothe societal wounds. The result: a laughing experience with attitude, friction, and plenty of conversation material for the way home.

From media professional to small arts award winner

Mertz became known through formats like Neo Tropic Tonight on ZDFneo, his Instagram sitcom, and satirical contributions on social media. The comedian, who grew up in Stuttgart, studied journalism and communication studies in Vienna and Istanbul, was discovered by Frank Elstner in 2013, and also worked as a moderator, author, podcaster, and actor. In 2025, he received one of the main awards at the Baden-Württemberg Small Arts Award.

Political humor with a love for cats

In the stage program of the ARD Hörspieltage, a cat lover emerges from a confused nation. Initially, this sounds like an unusual rescue mission – and develops in Mertz's performance into a satirical expedition through societal overwhelm, political absurdities, and the everyday madness of the zeitgeist.

Comedy atmosphere at HfG Karlsruhe

The State University of Design Karlsruhe will become the venue for pointed stand-up comedy that evening. Amid laughter, interaction, and quick mental twists, an audience reaction arises that makes Mertz's humor particularly powerful: People laugh, recognize themselves, and soon wonder if their own opinion has just been elegantly deconstructed.

Conclusion: An evening for everyone who likes to think while laughing

Aurel Mertz live promises political satire, socially critical punchlines, and a comedy atmosphere with its own tone. Anyone who wants to experience stand-up with attitude, precise timing, and surprising imagery should not miss this performance at the ARD Hörspieltage.
